North Dunedin Baptist Church Israel Itinerary

 
Day 1 Wednesday, March 16th 
DEPARTURE - The day has arrived! Once we catch a glimpse of the Mediterranean Sea and coastline of Tel Aviv, the jet lag will turn into excitement in anticipation of finally setting foot in the Holy Land. Your long awaited dream is now a reality. 
 
Day 2 Thursday, March 17th 
JAFFA / TEL AVIV
Welcome Home! Upon arrival at Ben Gurion Airport, we will be met and assisted through customs by a representative from Immanuel Tours Services. Our government-licensed guide will then greet us at the bus and our journey begins. If time permits, we’ll visit the ancient port city of Jaffa before retiring to our hotel for the evening. 
 
Day 3 Friday, March 18th
 
CAESAREA MARITIME / MEGIDDO / ZIPPORI / MT. ARBEL
After a night of rest, and a wonderful buffet breakfast, we’ll be on our way to Caesarea Maritime, where we will visit the Amphitheatre, Hippodrome and Roman Aqueduct. We then continue our drive to Megiddo, where we overlook the Valley of Armageddon, the place of the last great battle (Revelation 16:16). Our next stop is Zippori (Sepphoris), an archaeological site full of ancient Jewish & Roman ruins. Our last stop before arriving at our hotel in the Galilee is Mt. Arbel, where we will see and a breathtaking view of the area, and the “Horns of Hittin” where Saladin defeated the Crusaders in 1187.  
 
Day 4 Saturday, March 19th 
 
 HAZOR / DAN / CAESAREA PHILIPPI / GAMLA
We begin today with a visit to Hazor, where archaeologists have uncovered a six-chambered gate like that found at Megiddo. We continue our journey to the northernmost town of Dan where we see an ancient archway and the ruins of the city gate. We continue to Caesarea Philippi where Peter made his confession, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Matthew 13:16), and end the day at Gamla, where we can see the remains of a 1st Century synagogue.  
 
Day 5 Sunday, March 20th 
 
BOAT RIDE / CHORAZIM / CAPERNAUM / BETHSAIDA / YARDENIT
We begin this day with a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee, singing praises to God for the many miracles that Jesus performed in this area. We will disembark at Ginosar and visit the ancient boat from the time of Jesus. We continue to Chorazim, one of the cities Jesus cursed for unbelief. Next we visit Capernaum, where we will see an ancient synagogue and the Home of the Apostle Peter. Our next stop is Bethsaida where we find impressive remains from the Hellenistic period. We end this day at Yardenit – a baptismal site on the Jordan River.
 
 
Day 6 Monday, March 21st 
EIN HAROD / BET SHE’AN / QUMRAN / EIN GEDI / BET ALPHA
After breakfast, we will visit the ancient synagogue of Beit Alpha, which is located in the Beit She’an Valley. We will view mosaic floors preserved for almost 1,500 years. Our next stop is the Spring of Gideon where the faithful army of 300 was chosen, then we continue to the extensive excavations of Beit Shean, the capital city of the Decapolis that the Romans rebuilt in 63 A.D., and renamed Scythopolis. We travel south along the Jordan Valley to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth, where we will visit Qumran, the site where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. If time permits, we’ll view the falls of Ein Gedi before continuing to our hotel on the Dead Sea. 
 
Day 7 Tuesday, March 22nd

MASADA / BE’ER SHEVA / BET GUVRIN / JERUSALEM /TEL ARAD & AVDAT
Our day begins with a cable car ride to the top of Masada, the place of the last Jewish resistance against the Romans in the year 73 A.D. We cross the upper portion of the Negev and stop at Tel Arad, then visit Avdat, a city founded by the Nabateans, who converted to Christianity in the 4th Century. We continue to Be’er Sheva, the place of Abraham’s well (Genesis 21). If time permits, we’ll stop at Bet Guvrin to visit what is know as the “Bell Caves.” Later in the evening, we arrive in the Holy City, “JERUSALEM!” 
 
Day 8 Wednesday, March 23rd 
 YAD VASHEM / KNESSET / JERUSALEM MODEL / SHRINE OF THE BOOK / HERODIUM / HEROD'S FAMILY GRAVE
We begin our morning with a sobering visit to Yad Vashem, Israel’s memorial to the Holocaust. We will stop by the Knesset building and view the large Menorah across the street. We continue to the Israel Museum to see the Shrine of the Book and the Model of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. Our next stop is the Herodium, a place of refuge built by Herod the Great. Our last visit today is the family tomb of Herod, where we see an example of a real “rolling stone.” 
 
Day 9 Thursday, March 24th 
JUDEAN WILDERNESS / INN OF GOOD SAMARITAN / GENESIS LAND / 911 MEMORIAL / GALLICANTU / GENERATIONS CENTER
Our first stop today is an impressive view of the Judean Wilderness. We continue to the Inn of the Good Samaritan, then stop for Hebrew hospitality at Genesis Land (wear your Camel riding clothes). Upon our return to Jerusalem, we will visit one of Israel’s memorials to the 911 victims. Our next stop is at the new Generations Center, ending with a visit to the Gallicantu. 
 
Day 10 Friday, March 25th 
SOUTHERN STEPS / WESTERN WALL / CARDO – JEWISH QUARTER
This morning, we will join our Jewish friends at the Western Wall for a time of prayer. Next, we will visit the Davidson Center for a brief film about the Temple, and then ascend the Southern Steps just as Jesus would have done numerous times. We continue to the Cardo & Jewish Quarter in the Old City. After lunch in the Jewish Quarter we’ll have the afternoon free to shop for that special gift or souvenir. 
 
Day 11 Saturday, March 26th 
 MT. OF OLIVES / GETHSEMANE / VIA DOLOROSA / GARDEN TOMB
oday we begin with a drive to the top of the Mount of Olives. We will walk down the “Palm Sunday Road”, passing by Dominus Flevit where Jesus wept over Jerusalem. We continue to the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prayed with His disciples on the night of his betrayal. Next we enter the old city at the Lion Gate and visit the Pools of Bethesda, following the Via Dolorosa to the traditional site of Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection. We complete this day at the Garden Tomb and Gordon’s Golgotha where we also will testify, “He is not here, He is risen” (Luke 24:6). After observing the Communion, we will return to our hotel. 
 
Day 12 Sunday, March 27th 
 
RAMPARTS / CITY OF DAVID / RABBINICAL TUNNEL / EMEK TZURIM
After another hearty Israeli breakfast, we will begin our walk on top of the walls of Jerusalem. This vantage point will show us many interesting sites, as well as the daily life in Jerusalem. We continue with a walk through the ancient Rabbinical Tunnel, followed by an interactive visit to the City of David. Finally we’ll participate in an active archaeological dig, where you may uncover a real treasure – centuries old! Tonight we will enjoy a wonderful Farewell Dinner.’ 
 
Day 13 Monday, March 28th 
 We arrive at home today, with memories that will be kept as treasures for a lifetime and beyond!
