Day By Day Itinerary

Day 1 – Monday, February 15, 2027

ARRIVE IN ISRAEL

Welcome to Israel!  Meet, assist and transfer by special motor coach to our hotel in Hadera stopping on our way for a short visit to Old Jaffa (New Testament Joppa). Dinner and overnight at the  Vert Lagoon Hotel, Netanya

Day 2 –Tuesday, February 16, 2027

Caesarea – Carmel – Nazareth

We begin our day driving northwards to the ruins of the ancient city of Caesarea Maritima which was built by King Herod and later became the seat of government of the Roman governors including Pontius Pilate who sat in judgment on Jesus Christ and sentenced him to be crucified.  Visit extensive excavations of the site including the harbor, the Crusader City, the theatre, the hippodrome and the Roman aquaduct. We continue and drive by Mt. Carmel, where the Prophet Elijah challenged the Priests of Baal (1 Kings 18:17-40). Next we continue to Nazareth, a town in the hill country of Galilee where Jesus grew to manhood.  Here we will visit Nazareth Village an open-air museum that reconstructs and reenacts village life in the Galilee in the time of Jesus.  We continue and drive through Cana of Galilee, where Jesus performed his first miracle at the wedding feast (John 2:1-11). We arrive at the Ramot Resort overlooking the Sea of Galilee in the late afternoon and check in for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 – Wednesday, February 17, 2027

Sea of Galilee

We will start this day on Mt. Arbel overlooking the Sea Galilee.  There is no better place to get the “big picture” of Jesus’ ministry than from the cliffs of Mt. Arbel. The Sea of Galilee is rich in memories of the three years of Jesus’ Ministry around its shores. We will enjoy a boat ride  on the Sea of Galilee on board the Faith Boat with Daniel Carmel. Here we will visit to the so-called “Jesus Boat” a fishing boat of the kind used by the disciples of Jesus. Next, we will visit Magdala, the birthplace of Mary Magdalene (Luke 8:2). We continue to Capernaum, where Jesus dwelt after he left Nazareth and did many signs and wonders. We visit the ancient synagogue and the nearby House of Peter. We continue the drive around the shores of the Sea of Galilee to visit the Mt. of Beatitudes, Korazim (or Corozaim), which was a small Jewish town, which Jesus used to visit and to preach to its inhabitants, who refused to listen (Mat. 11,21). Dinner and overnight.

Day 4 – Thursday, February 18, 2027

Golan Heights

This morning we drive up to the Golan Heights passing by Katzerin “the town of the Golan” which was established in 1974 and continue on to Mt. Bental from where there is an observation point over the whole region and onto the ghost town of Kuneitra.  Next we stop at the Banias, the location of Caesarea Philippi where the Apostle Peter made his great confession of faith in Jesus as the Christ, before continuing to Tel Dan, which was the northmost town in biblical Israel (hence the saying “from Dan to Beersheba”).  Before ending this day we shall stop at the baptismal site at Yardenit by the River Jordan. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 –  Friday, February 19, 2027

Jordan Valley – Beit Shean – Qumran – Dead Sea

Today we leave the Sea of Galilee.  We check out of the hotel after breakfast and drive south along the Jordan Valley to Ein Harod (Gideon’s spring) where Israel’s first king – Saul, and his sone Jonathan fell in battle t the Phillistines around 1010BC (1 Samuel 31) . It was at the waters of Ein Harod that Gideon collected his people , in accordance with God’s command (Judges 7:7). We drive further south to the ancient Israelite city of Beit Shean.  In New Testament times this city became one of the 10 cities of the Decapolis (Matthew 4:25; Mark 5:20 ; Mark 7:31). We continue to Qumran, where the Essenes, a Jewish religious sect, lived over 2000 years ago and wrote the Dead Sea Scrolls (which you will later see at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem).  We continue our drive along the shores of the Dead Sea – the lowest spot on the face of the Earth. We will check in to the David Spa Hotel by the Dead Sea in the early afternoon. We will have time to enjoy the hotel facilities. You may wish to enjoy a float in the mineral rich waters of the Dead Sea. Dinner and overnight.

Day 6 –Saturday, February 20, 2027

Masada – Dead Sea – Ein Gedi- Jerusalem

After breakfast this day we will drive along the Dead Sea Shores to Masada, the scene of the last Jewish resistance against the Romans in 73 AD.  Ascend and descend by cable car. From here we will drive to Ein Gedi, where young King David hid in a cave when running from Saul and he composed several of his Psalms. We will start our way upwards to Jerusalem. On the way we will stop at Genesis Land , located in the Judean Desert and will enjoy a short camel ride and Hebrew Hospitality in Abraham’s Tent . Before checking into our hotel, we stop at the “Tayelet” promenade for a breathtaking view over the Old City of Jerusalem, Mt. Zion and the Mt. of Olives. We arrive to Hotel Dan Jerusalem  for dinner and overnight.

Day 7 –Sunday, February 21, 2027

Jerusalem

After an Early breakfast we will start the day with a visit to the Temple Mount, a holy site within the Old City for Jewish, Christian and Muslim people.  All visitors are able to tour the compound and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, with the exception of the Dome of the Rock.  From here we will walk to the Western (Wailing) Wall the most holy shrine for the Jewish people. We will visit the Western Wall Tunnels. The tunnels run along approximately 488 meters of the Western Wall, giving visitors a taste of the challenge that stood before Herod the Great during this biggest of all his immense building projects—the expansion of the Temple Mount.  One such example is the famous western stone which is 14 meters long and weighs almost 570 tons.   We then walk via Robinson’s Arch to the Garden of Ophel where archaeological excavations have revealed many remains of the Herodian period which include the steps known as the Hulda Steps leading up to the Temple Court. Then visit the excavations at the City of David In the afternoon we shall visit Mt. Zion with the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu and the Upper Room.  Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 8 –Monday, February 22, 2027

Jerusalem – Bethlehem

We will start our day driving to the top of the Mount of Olives, for a majestic view over all of ancient and modern Jerusalem, the center of the biblical world.  We walk down the “Palm Sunday Road”, via the Chapel of Dominus Flevit where Jesus wept over Jerusalem. Garden of Gethsemane (private garden) where he prayed on the night of his betrayal (Lk. 22:40-46).  Here we will have some time for prayer and reflection. We now enter within the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem, walking from the Pools of Bethesda at St. Anne, and along the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.  In the afternoon we shall drive to the Israel Museum with the Shrine of the Book where the Dead Sea Scrolls are kept and the Holy Land Model of Jerusalem , the way it was in the time of Jesus. From here we will drive to Bethlehem where Jesus was born and visit the Church of Nativity and the Field of the Shepherds. Returning to our hotel in Jerusalem for dinner followed by a Sound & Light Show at the Tower of David.

Day 9 – Tuesday, February 23, 2027

Garden Tomb – Ancient Shiloh – Yad Vashem – Farewell Dinner

We check out of the Dan hotel after breakfast and start our last day with a visit to the the Garden Tomb and Gordon’s Golgotha. Here we will have some time for worship and communion. We continue driving to Biblical Samaria. We will drive by Beit El, where Jacob said “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the House of God and this is the gate of Heaven” (Genesis 28:17). We arrive at Ancient Shiloh which held a central place in the biblical history of the children of Israel for more than 300 years and was the resting place of the Ark of the Covenant until the death of Eli the High Priest (1 Samuel 1-3).  We shall continue with a visit to the Yad Vashem Memorial to the victims of the Holocaust (headstes included).
Next we will enjoy a Farewell Dinner in a local restaurant, before driving to Ben Gurion Airport to catch our homebound night flight back to the USA.
