Israelites are no stranger to hardships and heartaches in its millennia long history. They have been tested and attacked, killed and oppressed time and time again and yet. Yet God’s faithfulness to Israel has proven itself time and time again, even when it didn’t seem possible.

While the events since the beginning of 2020 have been difficult on a personal, professional, national and global level, we remember that God’s Faithfulness to Israel has never failed and will never fail, just as He promised since the time of Abraham.

Here are examples of God’s Faithfulness to Israel has shown itself and places you can visit to remember:

Abraham

Around 2100 BC God called Abraham out of Ur in Mesopotamia. He promised Abraham that if he would be given many descendants through a child born to him and his wife, Sarah in their old age. This promise is seen lived out today. You can remember God’s faithfulness to Israel in this fulfilled promise by visiting Mount Moriah. This is where Abraham was stopped from sacrificing Isaac, the promised son, and where the Temple was built.

The Promised Land

Abraham’s descendants ended up in Egypt to escape a famine in Canaan. Eventually, the Egyptians enslaved the Israelites and they were left in bondage and despair. God however in Exodus 6:8, assured Moses that He would grant the land He’d promised to Abraham in Canaan to them. Just as He promised, Joshua led the people into Canaan and took control. Although Israel has been lost from time to time over the millennia, today the whole land of Israel is proof of God’s Faithfulness to Israel! You can visit the Jordan River, which is not only where Jesus was baptized, but also where the Israelites crossed into the Promised Land, specifically in the Judean Desert near Jericho.

The Destruction of the Temple

“Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and his disciples came to him to show Him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said to them, ‘Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down’ (Matthew 24:1,2).”

Just because someone is faithful, doesn’t mean it’s always fun. Jesus said that the Temple would be destroyed and He was mocked for it. Sure enough, within 40 years his prediction came true and no stone of the Temple stood upon the other. You can still see rubble from the truth he spoke when you visit the base of the Temple mount.

The Re-establishment of Israel: The Modern Miracle of God’s Faithfulness to Israel

The very existence of modern Israel is a miracle. As predicted in the Bible, Israelites were dispersed through the world after the failed revolt against the Romans in 132 AD. Most cultures are completely lost within a few generations of being assimilated into other cultures. Jews were able to preserve their own identify for nearly two-thousand years, including preserving the language of Hebrew, which was considered to be a dead language for well over a thousand years. This is the only time in history this has ever happened! No other civilization has completely been dispersed, lived thousands of years spread out in other countries speaking other languages and and then come back to their land with their language thousands of years later! When you are in Israel, you are walking in the very fulfilled promise of God and a true miracle!
