As the world encounters the historic pandemic and we work together to stay apart as a society, families are finding children home from school around the world. These families will have an unprecedented amount of time together. While many may find this confinement to be a discouraging time, we encourage you to use this time for God’s purpose as ”we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28). An excellent way of doing this is to take the time of less distractions and more time together and use it to realign our focuses on our Lord and take this time to teach our children to love the Lord our God and instill the values and teachings of his Son, Jesus and teaching them about the place where it happened, Israel.

There are many ways to teach your children during this time. Here are a few ideas:

Read the Bible Together

This may seem obvious, but it is easy with busy schedules to fall out of the habit of reading the Word of God together. Choose a book or study and read it together. Don’t just read it either, but discuss it together. Ask questions and find ways to apply the truths to these times we are living in now. These moments will be instilling the word in their hearts and they will remember that when uncertainty comes in the future, there is One who is unchanging! The Bible App offers not only the whole Bible conveniently on your phone, but also has many studies to choose from.

Pray for Peace

Pray together

Take the time to pray together for everything that they are concerned about, and really listen. These are trying times for all, but can be particularly frightening and confusing for children. Let them know that their feelings and thoughts are important by taking them to the Lord. Take time to teach them how to pray and the importance behind it. Whether you use liturgical prayers or speak what is on your mind, the most important thing is to go to God with a humble heart. Some find it helpful to use children’s prayers to help guide them.

Take a Walk

Fresh air does everyone a world of good to ease anxiety and remind us that God’s promises are never changing. Seeing the sun rise again and seeing nature continue on is soothing to the soul. Take family walks together (where able) and remind each other of those promises. When you see a bird or a beautiful flower, remind each other that God will always provide us with what we need and we have no need to worry. (Matthew 6)

Study Israel Together

We unfortunately are unable to welcome you to our wonderful country right now, but we are blessed to have unlimited access to information and virtual touring online. By doing this, you will do three important things; 1. You will teach your children the importance of loving Israel, God’s Promised Land. 2. You will show them tangible evidence that God’s promises are unchanging. 3. You will teach them that there is evidence for their faith and they should stand firm in their faith.

There are several ways to do this:

  1. Follow our blog where we have many informative articles and will continue to produce information regarding Israel to instill interest in this wonderful land. There you can learn about the history, the culture and the future of Israel. God’s plan for Israel is bright!
  2. Subscribe to our YouTube channel for videos that give you a little “virtual” tour of Israel. You can find out about traveling to Israel, or spend 2 minutes in places around Israel, such as the Sea of Galilee.
  3. Look at the abundance of resources that teach about how archeological research in Israel and throughout the region helps to validate the stories of the Bible. Every year more discoveries are made that astound and make the Bible come to life. Remember that most of the sites you visit while in Israel was once an archeological discovery, and each of those sites bring more discoveries of their own. There is no shortage of proof, and it’s exciting to think about what could be under your feet anywhere you are! Here is a great resource of information

We understand that this is a trying time for everyone, but as our founder and CEO Phillip Meyers said, we know that we do not have to be afraid.

We have a mighty God who has already won the battle! We can’t wait to hear about the conversations you’ve had with your children during this time and to be able to welcome them to Israel very soon! We are praying for you and hope you also pray for Israel and the Peace of Jerusalem!

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
